Passing by cattle ranches, coffee and sugar cane plantations to arrive at Punta Renas, where we took the hour long ferry to the Nicoya Peninsula.
From the landing there was another hour drive to the Pacific coast and the Tango Mar Resort.
Our beautiful room overlooked the ocean, as did the pool, restaurant and bar.
This is a special place, owned by Hilda who brings her love of good food and beer from Belgium and the menu offered everything from cervix to sea bass, heart of palm and mushroom casserole and gazpacho soup.
After dinner they turn up the music and everyone dances, especially the waiters.
The hotel offers excursions like ziplinning, horseback riding, and nature walkes through the nearby park. Although the snorkeling isn’t the best, the boat ride out to Tortuga island often gives you the chance to see whales and picnic on the beach.
