At the Relais San Maurizio we are in the center of some of the best wineries in Italy. The Piedmont is best known for their Barolo, Barbaresco, Nebbiolo and Barbera wines as well as being the Truffle Capital of the world.
Frederica of TFL Tours arranged a car so we could explore the nearby villages of Neive and Barbaresco. Our first stop was at the lively and inviting Enoteca Al Mido Della Cinciallega. They offered us samples of Barbaresco along with delicious regional cheeses and salami. So warm and inviting on a cold day, I didn’t want to leave.
Around the crest of the hill was the village of Barbaresco, where the there are many places to taste the wine including a beatiful chapel…how appropriate!
If we had time we would have visited the small quaint town of the famous Barlolo wine next, but we couldn’t miss the delicious lunch waiting for us at San Maurizio. After continuous eating and drinking here (worth every calorie by the way), I am more than convinced to return.
