After arriving at San Jose we were wisked away to the nearby Doubletree, an oasis of calm in a congested city.
An al fresco dinner was served and then Hector, guide extraordinaire and an encyclopedia of knowledge told us the schedule for the week.
We left bright and early for a tour of San Jose, and a stop at the National Museum, where we saw an amazing butterfly garden and walked through the old fort.
A typical Costa Rican meal is rice and beans, fried plantains and either chicken, fish or beef. Pura Vida!
On we traveled towards the eastern coast, to our resting place at the exotic Sueno Azulejo, accessed by crossing the river on a suspension bridge.
A fesh coconut welcome as we checked in, and some local specialties on the patio brought the day to a close.
